CHILDREN ELIGIBLE FOR FREE SCHOOL MEALS
Today we were given our booking slot to order FSM vouchers for weeks commencing 22nd Feb & 1st March. Edenred should approve the vouchers at some point today, once this has been actioned your vouchers will be issued to the email address provided – The value is £15 per week, per child.
Please Note: If your child attends school on a part-time basis, the amount will be adjusted to reflect this.
As you may be aware, the government launched their Free School Meals scheme to help those eligible during the national lockdown. To date, Brentnall has been ordering food boxes through our catering supplier however from Monday 25th January 2021 we will be making the change to online vouchers provided through Edenred.
Please Note: The vouchers are only available for the children who are currently not attending school.
The Free School Meal scheme provides those eligible with a voucher for £15 per week that can be exchanged to spend in a number of supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Iceland, Morrisons, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and M&S.
School will be placing 1 order for weeks commencing 25th January, 1st February and 8th February, therefore you will receive an email with a code worth £45 per child – e.g if you have 2 children your voucher will be for £90, 3 children your voucher will be for £135 etc.
Please Note: Week commencing 15th February is half term, the local authority has arranged for Aldi vouchers to be distributed direct to your email account, please ensure that you have completed and returned to school a consent form by Friday 29th January 2021 at the latest.

Are you eligible for Free School Meals?
Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals if you get any of the following:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit – if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
Please Note: The Infant Free School Meals scheme is separate and only runs when children are attending school. If your child is in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 you must complete your eligibility to qualify for the vouchers.
