New to Nursery

Nursery Letter

Dear Parents,

As your child is due to start in Nursery at Brentnall Community Primary School in September, we would like to share some information with you about some of the things we have in place.

Starting dates

Over the next few days you will receive an information pack, through the post, which contains the date your child will be starting school. In order to ensure a successful start to their time at Brentnall, the children will transition over a short period of time, building up to full time., as detailed below:

  • Your child will attend for one morning, 9:00-11:00am week beginning 6th September 2021.
  • From Monday 13th September, your child will attend school part time, for either the morning or the afternoon sessions. This allows the children to settle into their new class and to get to know their teacher, before starting full time.
  • From Monday 20th September, all nursery children will attend full time, from 9;00am until 3:00pm.

Transition with your child’s current nursery
Your child’s new class teacher is busy making phone calls to your child’s current Nursery, if they are currently attending one.

If your child does not currently attend a nursery or childminder and you feel there is some information that we need to know regarding their education or health needs, please contact the school and we will arrange for someone to speak with you to discuss this.

Visits to school

Due to the current government guidelines around COVID-19, we are unable to plan our ‘stay and play’ sessions for the children to visit the school with their parents and see the classroom and meet the teacher.

As an alternative we have uploaded a short video to our website, which shows the Early Years environment here at Brentnall. This can be found by going to the ‘Information’ tab and then to the ‘New to Nursery’ section. We will upload any information to this section of the website.

Home visits

At Brentnall, we value the opportunity to carry out a home visit for every child starting at our school. This is a great opportunity for your child to meet their class teacher in an environment that is familiar to them. It also gives your child’s teacher the opportunity to get to know you and your child before you join us in school. Unfortunately, this is not something that we can arrange at this time.

However, your child’s new teacher will be in touch to arrange either a phone call or a video call during week beginning 6th September 2021. We do hope that you will take this opportunity to meet some of the team.

Contacting school

If you have any questions regarding your child starting at Brentnall, please contact the school office on 0161 792 4317.

Accepting your place

If you haven’t done so already, and you still require the place for your child to attend nursery in September, please log on to the portal which you used to apply for the place to accept your place at Brentnall.

Data forms

In the information pack being sent in the post, you will find the school data form for you to complete. This must be completed before your child starts school. Some parents have already completed this and handed it in to the school office. If so, please disregard this form.

In addition, there is a ‘Here I Come’ sheet and a ‘Target tracker’ sheet which we would like you to return before your child starts school.

We would appreciate you dropping the forms off at the school office before we finish for summer on Thursday 22nd July.

Alternatively, you can send all completed forms back to school in the post. The school postal address is:

Brentnall Primary School, Northumberland Street, Higher Broughton, Salford, M7 4RP.

And finally…

On behalf of the staff and governors of Brentnall, I would like to thank you for choosing us as the school for the next phase of your child’s education. I am incredibly proud of all of our children and I am pleased to be welcoming both you and your child to join the Brentnall family.

Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to meeting you very soon, Kind regards,

Mr. Thompson Headteacher
